Event registration will be held on Friday the 6th of November at the super impressive South Waikato Sport and Events Centre. Registration will be open from 4pm to 9pm and is compulsory for all participants to collect their race number, timing transponder and goodie bag. There will also be a number of the events sponsors set-up at this registration offering ‘event specials'. The Sport and Event's Centre is located in Tokoroa on the corner of Mossop Road and SH1.
If you have booked a bus to the start line for you and your bike, you must register on the Friday and drop off your bike.
If you are unable to make it for Friday registration, there will also be registration's set up at each of the start lines from an hour and a half before your race start time. However we do ask anyone that can make it to the Friday registration to do so, this way you have nothing to do on event morning other than get yourself ready and psyched-up for your big race!
For all of you that require transport for yourselves from the finish line at Whakamaru Christian Camp to your start line there is a bus option available. This is optional and is designed for people that don't have ‘support crews' with them to drop them at their start point in the morning. There is an additional cost that comes with booking the transport option, and this can be booked when entering your chosen event option, alternatively the bus can be booked at a later date if you are un-sure at this stage whether or not you will require it.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are doing one of the mountain biking events and are booking the optional event transport to your start line you will have to attend the Friday registration. You will drop off your bike on the Friday when you register, and then on Saturday morning you will park your car at the finish area, get on a bus (with your gear, helmet, shoes... etc...)and be taken to your start line, your bike will be waiting for you there.
Bus Times: (leaving from the finish area - Whakamaru Christian Camp. Please park your car in the adjoining reserve area, as directed by parking marshals)
If you need to book a bus you can do that here.
We will be back to the impressive South Waikato Sport and Events Centre on Saturday evening for an official event prize giving and ‘after match party'.
The prizegiving will kick off at 6pm and merit prizes will be awarded to over-all race winners for each of the race options, with age group winners receiving name recognition. There will also be a number of great spot prizes giving away throughout the prize giving (must attend to be in the draw for these!)
Note: Marathon and Ultra-Marathon participants will also receive finish medals at the finish line.
Following the prize giving will be dinner at 7pm. Dinner will consist of a main meal, dessert and a drink (beer, wine, cider, soft drink) and is $36 for adults and $18 for kids under 12. This will be provided by local spit roast company 'Brownie's Spit Roast' and from what I have heard from a number of people is "they do a pretty mean feed!".
Note that Dinner must be booked by Tuesday the 3rd of November - there will be NO CASH SALES on the night! So please pre-book to avoid disappointment.
If you have entered and not yet booked your dinner you can do that by going back into the Taniwha online store using the link below now! Click here
Drinks: (one included with meal)
The lovely people at the South Waikato District Council have offered a large grassed area and parking area for anyone that wants to pitch their tent or park their campervan up for Friday and/or Saturday nights (and be close to the auction for Friday night registration and/or Saturday night prize giving, dinner and concert). There will be access to toilets and showers, but no cooking/kitchen etc. facilities available.
When the Total Sport crew stays in the South Waikato/Taupo area we stay at The Dam Lodge, Out in the Styx, or Hilton Lake Taupo.
